There are many ways of saving fuel however we focus on those things that make the biggest changes typically these are driver behaviour, remapping or tuning and aerodynamics.
Most fleets are run to a lowest common denominator of performance with the pressure of day to day operations taking precedent over efficiency simply due to staff work loads and general business pressures. An example case study is a large waste company operating a range of vehicles across a number of business applications. By simply reviewing and monitoring the driver behaviour and remapping the fleet we have seen dramatic improvements in fuel consumption. Below are three examples:

The above figures are one application, waste trucks are at the extremes of the operating envelope however this data shows the significant advantage of remapping and driver training especially when combined.

Figures are based on average of 20,000 miles per annum. and fuel prices of £0.987 (ave 12 January 2009 source petrolprices.com) and based on two years vehicle ownership.
